Abstrakt (Fulltext in Czech available on the CZ version of our website) The torso of a trumpet from 1675, made in Vienna by Hans Geyer the Elder, is an important object of research into the production of brass instruments in Vienna from the organological and art historical point of view, as well as from the practical point of view for the historically informed interpretation of early music. It is the only known surviving example of a trumpet from the workshop of this master, whose instruments were used in the second half of the 17th century in the most important musical centres of Central Europe, especially the Imperial Court Orchestra in Vienna and the Bishop's Court Orchestra in Kroměříž. As the shape of the bell of the natural trumpet underwent a significant stage of development in the last quarter of the 17th century, which had a significant impact on the sound characteristics of these instruments, the trumpet described here gives us a very precise idea of the sound ideal of the compositions of the time in the territory in question. Equally important is the comparison of this particular instrument with the surviving instruments of the time from Nuremberg, a place which at that time was still dominant in the production of brass instruments.
