Abstrakt (Fulltext in Czech available on the CZ version of our website) The paper attempts to map the forms and transformations of dance pedagogy in Brno from its beginnings, falling in the first half of the 20th century, leading from the activities of private dance schools of the 1st Republic through important personalities of dance pedagogy (e. g. Eliška Bláhová, I. V. Psota) to newly emerging and state-established dance education after the 2nd World War. Using Brno as an example, the text describes the transformation of private dance education into an official, state-controlled system in which the influence of Sovietization gradually prevailed. In this context, the text also tries to point out the connections with theatre productions, as the emerging dance education aimed to generate professionals in the field.
