Abstrakt Lucie Burešová is offering an insight into the dance education system in Japan in the context of changing demands on education in Czech Republic in the new century. To support the idea that dance should be a part of basic education, she brings an example from Japan where dance lessons are included in the basic school education as a part of physical education. She explores the private dance schools and ballet studios role in Japan as leisure activities as well as the exclusive dance schools concentrating on preparation for professional dancer´s career. She presents an introduction to the dance department university system as well, which by the possibility of getting the qualification for teaching physical education at both basic and high schools as well as getting important contacts to professional dance scene provides a connection between the leisure dance activities and professional dance world.
