Abstrakt The study summarises the development of Czech music acoustics in the 19th century, espe¬cially the contributions of Jakub Jan Ryba and Čeněk Strouhal among others. Historic background and connections to other sciences are given. The first Czech musical acoustic chapter in a treatise of Jakub Jan Ryba is analysed as well as texts of Czech aestheticians (Stecker, Durdík, Hostinský). Phys¬icists and mathematicians such as Studnička, Mach and Doppler are mentioned. The study is completed by a chapter dealing with music acoustics of Čeněk Strouhal, the vortex sound discoverer.
